Warded

Last 2 weeks I was sick. With coughing and 2 times one-day fever. On Friday 3rd June, Sarah caught the fever and the next day (Saturday) Izzat suddenly got the fever too while we were under our way back to kampung. The cause of the illness must be the hot weather, I must say.

I actually took 3 days leave from Monday to Wednesday last school holiday to go and spend our time at The Lost World of Tambun and Cammeron Highland. I mentioned this in my previous entry. But because Sarah and Izzat's hot temperatures, (39 (Izzat) and 40 (Sarah) degree celcius!), we had to postpone our plan.

On last Tuesday, both of the kids looked much better. The temperature was reduced and they were actively played together. So we decided to proceed with our plan but to go for Cameron Highland only as I only have two more days left. So off we go to Cameron.

Along the journey, the three kids were really happy. But I was feeling dizzy and want to throw up as we move up to the hill. It must be the new car. I haven't feel like this when we were travelling with our Spectra. But with this Pajero 4 wheel drive, although it is far more comfortable, I don't think it's suitable for going to higher places like Cameron and Genting.

After checked in at the hotel, we went to the Strawberry Farm. Sarah and Shasha were eager to see and pluck the strawberries by themselves. But I stayed in the car as Izzat just falled asleep. And hubby, like always, forgot to snap any pictures. Then we just ride on to see what are the other places that we can go for the next day. Lastly, we stop at the Pasar Malam to buy some dinner and see what are the interesting items being sold. We bought some food, honey and keychains for souvenier.

We went back to the hotel at 7 pm. We took showers, prayed and eat our dinner. When came the bedtime, then the problem started. Izzat and Sarah were felt hot again and when checked, Izzat's was 39+ closed to 40 degree celcius. Sarah was 40. God, we realized then that it was a mistake to go to Cameron Highlands while the kids were still not well. I didn't sleep as I have to constantly checking on Izzat's temperature and hubby was taking care of Sarah. Izzat also couldn't sleep as the fever and cough were disturbing him.

So after we checked out, we didn't go anywhere else but straight to our home. When we move down the hill, I felt dizzy again and was trying so hard to prevent myself from throwing up. Sarah didn't make it. She throw up in a palstic bag. So I was busy taking care of myself, Sarah and Izzat at the passenger's seat. I really thought that it took longer time to reach the downhill.

Izzat was looking tired and was sleeping the whole journey. When we were safely arrived at our home, he was not active and constantly crying. At night, we brought him and Sarah to clinic and the temperature taken was 40. The doc wrote two letters for Izzat and Sarah to be referred to specialist and at the same time put a fever capsule through Izzat's anus. We decided not to go straight to the hospital as we want to see whether Izzat's condition will be improved by that night. But it was me who actually was reluctant as I was afraid that Izzat could be admitted. My kids was never been admitted to hospital before beside Sarah who got jaundice after she was delivered.

Our expectation came true as at that night, Izzat was feeling better after he poo poo (hehe). He suddenly became active. And the next day, the temperature was normal. The fever was gone. But we brought him and Sarah to the specialist, just to make sure that everything is allright. When we reached the hospital, we were told that the paediatrician has gone out for lunch and she was the only paediatrician available. The paediatrician that we used to see took two weeks leave to perform umrah. So we have to go back and come again at 3.30 pm. When we came to the hospital again, Izzat was terrified to see the paediatrician. He was screaming when the paed took his temperature and tried to check on him. The temperature was normal but the paed decided to take blood test as she saw some rashes at Izzat's back. Sarah's temperature was 38 but the paed said her blood doesn't need to be tested.

When the result came out, it showed that Izzat has viral infection in his blood and Izzat has low intake of water in his body. It made we wonder as Izzat was ok on consuming milk and water. It must be the high temperature that dehydrated the body. So there it is. Izzat has to be admitted to ward to monitor his viral infection. Poor Izzat. We went back to our home to get what are needed as the room was not ready yet. When we went into the ward, there was already a girl who also being admitted. We forgot to ask for one single bed room. So we were given four bedded room. Tak apalah.. It's ok with us. When comes the time to see the paed to put the needle into Izzat's veins, I was so worried. Like expected, Izzat was screaming so loud I couldn't bear to see him in pain when the paed put the needle inside. And I cried too.

So Izzat was admitted for 2 nights and 2 days (we got to get into the ward at 7 pm). On the second night, we got ourselves a one single room. It was so much better because our sleep wasn't disturbed with noises and we got our privacy. But Izzat would cry everytime a nurse or doctor came to our room.

On last Saturday afternoon, the doctor said that Izzat can go home. His lung condition has been improved. So hubby came to picked us up. So far, Izzat has been better and more cheerful, Alhamdulillah...
